I was amazed to read some of the replies given by certain Indians here. The only issue these people have is that Shoib is from Pakistan and that she practices the muslim faith. I’m sure these comments must hurt the good and nationalistic Indian muslim people very deeply as I had earlier witnessed in OurMehfil (our forum).
For some people one should not expect much..but some others..very surprising!!

Most of Indians don’t have any problems , And they also don’t say openly that they are not bothered about it. But , the ones who have problems are in minority and they decide to post their rants and make it look like every Indian is disappointed.

Dear Rehman Ji…. I want to give few clarifications, these people are protesting not because she is a muslim.
They are protesting because she is marrying with a man who comes from Pakistan with whom India has very heated political relations. And it was obvious from some right wing people. Aap is baat ko to achhi tarah se samajhte hi honge.
Its her own life, people don’t have any right to interfere in her private life. In a free society like India, these people(they are just in small number) are just acting ridiculously. I was only surprised that how come she has chosen Shoib Malik. I mean she is more educated than him. The user above “great wall of India” has described it all.
I am not bothered about private life of anyone and neither all the Indians. Only few bunch of holigans are making into the news. Why are you taking Shiv Sena seriously? They mostly talks rubbish and no one cares about them.
The honour Padma Shri which she has received will remain with her. There is no such thing in our constitution that after becoming the citizen of a different country, the person will lose the honour. In fact India has honoured its highest “Bharat Ratna” honour to some foreign nationals too like Nelson Mandela(South Africa), Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan(who was a freedom fighter later moved to Pakistan after the partition of India) and some others.
However I have only one objection. She won’t be Indian any more after she marries a foreign citizen and leaves this country. And she should not be allowed to represent India in international tennis events which she still wants. It will be against the Indian pride if someone who is not Indian national to represent India.
There’s no reason other than Shoib from Pakistan.
After often exchange of heat from two sides and both being celebrities, it is no surprise to me that this marriage is being opposed by a section of society in India. However, I agree with my friend “Desi Boy” who rightly described the situation. Its a private affair and Ms. Mirza has right to chose whomever she wants, however after her wedding, whether she plays for India or not, that is the decision of Indian Tennis Federation. And ITF reserves that right. One may read several statements, but the actual decision is yet to come, and that would come at appropriate time. Anyways, Ms. Mirza is over hyped Tennis player at the rank 90+. I think it is high time to bring in a fresh face to represent India in international tennis world. She can marry whomever she want, she can cheer whomever she want, she can insult any national flag she want as she did in past with Indian national flag she can continue, and if her new family allows her she can continue wear her tennis dresses too. Everything is her private affair, other than, whether she can play for Indian Tennis Federation or not, that is not her decision.
As far as her awards are concerned, that are not given to her for her wedding, so that would and should remain with her, unless she does anything against India.

People do not hate this development because Sania Mirza is muslim. They hate it because Shoaib Malik whom she has chosen as husband is a Pakistani. Most of the Indians – Hindus, Muslims, Christians – all alike hate this development.

When Sania has announced that she intended to marry a Pakistani, obviously Indians are hurt because they suffered the effects of Pakistani terrorism. Pakistan is an enemy state. Marrying a Pakistani hence is a treachery against India. If love is there, it is not bigger than love of own country. Pakistan by sheltering all terrorists like Dawood Ibrahim and the Memon brothers has indicated its enmity with India. I do business with Pakistanis on a daily basis but I draw a line. There can not be a marital relationship between people of these two countries unless Pakistan’s Govt rescinds all its terrorist apparatus created against India, like LeT. If Indian Sania Mirza marries a Pakistani, she is a trojan horse and has to be expelled from India with her family. I am clear on this.
