Vykul, yes this does exist in Pakistan, but is not limited to Pakistan. Trust me, it happens in every corner of the earth. Any criminal who commits an inhumane act does not represent other humans, so why would it be correct to say that one Muslim who joins such an industry represent all Muslims? I am aware of what you’re talking about, but it’s a sad issue that the gov. of Pakistan should stand up to and resolve it.

i think brother Hafiz has the right point here. I understand what everyone says that supports its illegal status, but I think in order to regulate it and understand the problem entirely it should be legalised and regulated in certain districts, with registration.
its true, there is a booming sex trade in pakistan, esspecialy in lahore, karachi, islamabad. cities mainly.
i spent 7 years in pakistan, so i saw for myself. did tobah everday for the sins that were taking place. its very sad to see a islamic country go this path. very sad indeed.

Pakistan was made to be a land for Islam but it is now a land for Muslims with Islam and without Islam. It’s not a country solely for the pious. As every nation, it has got it’s good and bad people. Just as Satan is everywhere. Also by mere Muslim or Arabic name doesn’t mean to be pious by default…one has to strive and attain the true knowledge in order to attain Taqwa and get rid of evil from lives.
Secondly much of the media are lies & focus on the evil side of men. We are taught to see the good in others, speak the good, act good and spread the good. So I haven’t clicked at the link.

well the positive side of the story is that the author recognizes the benefits of polygamy as Islam permits having more than 1 wife. He says’

Secondly, to answer the asker’s question, I would say that if it cannot be curbed it must be legalized so that the Govt atleast have right statistics. When you dont register you cannot control. The red light areas which used to be distinguishable in the cities have dispersed among the posh residential areas. Now one cannot recognised who is living in their neighbourhood.
Pakistan collects billions of Rupees in Baitul Mall, if the Govt have the right statistics, a program to re-habitate the prostitues can be started. Why would a widow has to be on the road in an Islamic country where zakat is collected right from the bank accounts of wealthy people? I strongly beleive, that being a predominantly traditional country, not many women are doing this for the fun. Its poverty and social imbalance that is driving them into this.
Aids- another growing concern for which we do not have the right figure. If prostitutes are registered. An educational and awareness programme can be started.
And over time it can be suppressed.
Keeping eyes closed and simply denying the facts is not the solution of this problem!

Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. We can deny it, but no use.
Women will cater to the need of men. It’s the men who are responisble for it….. they want and need it obviously.
I think it’s wrong to say it’s only Pakistan….. Iran, Iraq, UEA sex industry is blooming there also….. it’s not only in the West. Men will be men, sad but true.
Should it be legalized? I don’t know really…… you do protect the women better (it is semi legal were i live, with red light district etc) the women are checked medically, the are more protected from being exploited and from harm than when it is illegal.
I know Islam discourages/forbids prostitution, but lets face it……. it happens anyways. And it will always happen. It will just get deeper in the illegallity and it will just be more secretive if the government would start acting more strict. And guess who would pay the price, not the ‘Johns’ (customers) but the women who sometimes have no other choice but to sell their body to get food on the table.
